Congrats to Maddie Hobbs for making Region 1 ODP Pool!

"At the 2014 US Youth Soccer (USYS) Region I ODP Camp this past July, Madeline Hobbs earned selection into the 2014-15 Region I ODP 1998s Girls Team pool. Hobbs has been a starting defender for the Rhode Island (RI) ODP 1998s Girls team, playing at the Region I ODP Tournaments since 2010. Her Rams FC Everton club team competes in the USYS Region I Northeast League at the GU17 level, and was the USYS-RI State Finalist for the past two years. The Region I ODP Pool is a highly competitive program, where players are evaluated from 13 states, ranging from Maine to West Virginia. These players demonstrate the best strategic knowledge, tactical performance levels, speed, and strength in their age group.

As a result, the first step for Hobbs may include play at the ODP Thanksgiving Interregional in Boca Raton, FL, where the best players from Regions II (Midwest), III (Southeast), and IV (FarWest) train and compete for selection to the US Women’s National Teams. The next event is the USYS National Training Camp in late January 2015 in Phoenix, AZ. In addition, the Region I program provides international opportunities for Hobbs to travel with the pool to play in Germany, Croatia, or Russia in Spring 2015.  Hobbs is excited to discover how these new opportunities in her soccer development help her to reach her goal of intercollegiate-level play.

Congrats and Best of Luck Maddie!
