Rhode Island Elite Soccer Academy

University of Rhode Island head men's soccer coach John O'Connor would like to announce the dates for the 2012 Rhode Island Elite Soccer Academy at the University of Rhode Island.

This youth soccer summer camp - staffed by the University of Rhode Island men's soccer coaches and players - enters its sixth summer in 2012.

"Rhode Island Elite Soccer Academy has become part of the fabric of the summer in the South County," said RIESA Director and URI men's soccer head coach John O'Connor. "Whether our half-day, full-day or Elite ID sessions, we strive to create a teaching environment in which all participants can be successful and have fun."

The 2012 schedule features half-day, full-day and an overnight academies, designed to develop players across the spectrum, whether just starting out in the game all the way to those with an eye on playing in college. All sessions are held on the beautiful campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston.

The Advanced Day Academy (June 25 - 29) provides a half-day component for players in PK - 2nd grades and a full-day session for players in grades 3-8 (NEW). The half-day youth academy focuses on individual skill development through fun exercises and games. The full-day academy is co-ed but divided into age, gender and skill appropriate training groups. Players will participate in progressive sessions on defending, attacking, shooting, technical training with the ball and various games to test what they have learned throughout the week.

The Elite Overnight ID Academy (July 22-25) is for high school boys who want to compete at the highest level and in particular those looking at playing in college including at the University of Rhode Island. Participants will be trained in sessions that give them an inside look at what will be expected at the next level.

"Each and every year we have players coming to URI that attended our camp which says great things about the quality of the players in attendance," O'Connor added.

Coaches from URI as well as other New England Division I and III Colleges and Universities make up the experienced staff. As a bonus participants get to know and work alongside players from URI throughout the days as they act as Assistant Coaches and demonstrators.

Rhode Island Elite Soccer Academy offers something for every age player. Quality instruction, experienced instructors, a fun environment and development as a soccer player are guaranteed.

ON-LINE registration will be available soon.
